Role Overview
Due
to the continued success and growth of our Asset Management Services (AMS)
division, we currently have an opportunity for a Health and Safety Assistant.
As
a health and safety assistant, you will use your knowledge and skills to
promote a positive health and safety culture and provide H&S support on our
sites throughout the UK and Ireland.
You
will ensure company employees and subcontractor workers fully comply with all
relevant health and safety legislation, company health and safety policy and
ensure industry good practices are adopted and adhered to.
What you'll do
The following reflect the main
tasks associated with the position and are not intended to be exclusive or
exhaustive:
- Support operational teams across the business,
including development and review of construction phase plans and site
safety control registers.
- Provide health & safety assistance on sites
in support of operational teams, ensure working practices on sites are
safe and comply with legislation.
- Carry out risk assessments and consider how
risks could be reduced.
- Carry out regular health & safety audits and
inspections.
- Keeping records of inspection findings and
produce reports that suggest improvements.
- Ensuring all work equipment is installed and
used safely by competent persons.
- Ensure hazardous substances are clearly
identified, safely stored, safe disposal and appropriate safety controls
fully implemented.
- Participate in health and safety meetings.
- Assist with accident investigations and complete
investigations reports.
- Keep up to date with new Health and Safety
Legislation and any developments that affect the business.
- Assist the HSEQ Manager review and
maintain the company Integrated Management System (IMS).
- Other
duties as may be required from time to time depending on the needs of the
business
What you'll
bring
As a
Health & Safety Assistant your main skills and experience will include:
Essential Criteria:
- Demonstrable
experience working in the Construction and (or) Facilities Management
industry
- Qualification
in a relevant subject related to construction health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH
Construction Certificate) or equivalent qualifications/experience.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience developing
and reviewing construction phase plans, workplace risk assessments and
method statements.
- Demonstrable experience undertaking regular site
health, safety & environmental audits and producing reports.
- Demonstrable
knowledge and experience of health & safety generalist skills.
- Excellent IT skills that include a working
knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
- Full Driving License.
Desirable Criteria:
It would be desirable that
candidates could demonstrate the following skills and attributes for this new
role:
- The
National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety - delivered
by the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health
(NEBOSH).
- Membership
of appropriate accredited industry body, e.g., IOSH (Technical or Grad
IOSH).
- The ability to work effectively both as part of
a team and as an individual.
- Excellent interpersonal and
communication skills.
