Rate of pay: £15.97 (£34,524 - £35,712)
Hours: 37 Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
Location: Belfast
Duration: Until March 2025 with possible extension

The key duties of the post are to:
- Support the management of DfC's economic and social research programme.
- Assist in the development of economic briefings and analysis. This entails drafting high quality, reliable, accurate and timely economic briefing to the Minister and/or senior officials.
- Undertake economic and social research projects in line with the agreed schedule of research in DfC. This can include qualitative and quantitative analysis, economic assessments, econometric analysis and evaluation on a range of research areas and Minister’s priorities.
- Support the development of a twice-yearly economic and social research review tailored to DfC’s strategic objectives.
- Provide business case advice to DfC policy colleagues in line with Better Business Cases NI guidance (Five Case Model).
- Responding to ad hoc economic queries.
- Maintain an up to date understanding of current economic issues and topics both in Northern Ireland and at a national and international level.
Essential Experience & Qualifications required:
A second-class honours degree with Economics as a major* component
*Major Component is defined as: at least 50% of all the course modules must be in economics. Applicant must list all modules and briefly describe their relevant economic modules.
