Assistant Harbour Master required to join our client in Carrickfergus
£12.59 per hour
Casual on call as and when required
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Assist with the day-to-day operational management of the Marinas, Harbours, Rivers and Maritime areas. Ensuring safe operations of berthing, mooring and securing of craft.
Ensure a customer led approach whilst complying with Health & Safety guidelines, relevant legislation and procedures.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Service Delivery
1.1. Carry out regular inspections of the Marina, Harbour and designated public realm areas to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations.
1.2. Record the movement of vessels to ensure the safe berthing of craft in the Marinas, Harbours, Rivers and Maritime areas.
1.3. Ensure the security, safety and cleanliness of the Marinas, Harbours, Rivers and Maritime areas.
Shorting Criteria (Essential):
Criterion 1
Applicants must have a minimum of:
· 3 GCSE passes at grade C or above (or equivalent) to include English Language and Maths
Criterion 2
Applicants must have a minimum of:
· RYA Powerboat level 2 or equivalent
Criterion 3
Applicants must have a minimum of:
· First Aid Qualification
Criterion 4
Applicants must have a minimum of:
· VHF Operators certificate (or obtain within 3 months of employment)
Criterion 5
Be able to demonstrate by providing personal and specific examples, 2 years’ (4 years if you do not have the academic requirement in Criteria 1) operational experience working in a marina or port environment
Criterion 6
Hold a full current driving licence valid in the UK and access to a form of transport that meets the needs of the post in full OR have access to a form of transport which enables the applicant to meet the full requirements of the post in full.* (*This relates to any person who has declared that they have a disability which debars them from driving)
