JOB TITLE: Data
Protection Support and Training Assistant
DEPARTMENT: OD & Innovation
UNIT: Portfolio, IT & Commercialisation
To support
the Data Protection Officer in meeting the Council’s data protection
obligations, through the design, implementation of and training on efficient
policies and processes. Work in
partnership with all Units to promote a compliant culture that supports all
employees to achieve data protection best practice.
The post
holder will be expected to be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs
and requirements of the organisation and duties and responsibilities may vary
without changing the purpose of the job or level of responsibility.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To support the development and
implementation of all data protection policies, processes and procedures, including
maintaining a regular review cycle.
2. Effectively engage with the organisation
and service providers to ensure statutory deadlines are met.
3. Support the Data Protection Officer in
responding to and managing data breach incidents, including leading
investigations where appropriate.
4. Develop and Provide training to Elected
Members and Staff on Data Protection matters including, but not limited to,
Data Protection principles and responsibilities, completion of Data Protection
Impact Assessments and Data Sharing Agreements.
5. Advise stakeholders on the completion of
effective Data Protection Impact Assessments and review these as required.
6. To create and maintain documentation
that provides evidence of legal and regulatory compliance based on the
accountability principle.
7. To carry out any administrative duties
as required, in relation to the Data Protection function.
8. Review supplier contracts, including
Model Clauses and International Data Transfer Agreements, needed to implement
projects/services in partnership with colleagues in Procurement.
9. Manage and provide advice on all
individual rights, including technical measures, required to ensure these
rights are acknowledged and fulfilled within legal time frames
10. Ensure compliance with Council policies and procedures and operate
within the highest standards of management and personal behaviour, which
reflect the core values and behaviours of the organisation.
11. Promote equality of opportunity and access in service delivery and in
the employment of staff.
Essential Experience:
It is
essential that applicants have a minimum of:
QUALIFICATIONS
1.1-
5
GCSE passes at grade A-C, NVQ level 2 or equivalent.
1.2-
A
recognised Data Protection qualification
EXPERIENCE
1.3-
One
years’ employment experience in a role providing advice in regards to Data
Protection.
1.4-
Experience of delivering training programmes in relation
to Data Protection, including ensuring competency following training.
Where
applicants do not hold the qualifications as outlined in 1.1 above, they must demonstrate a minimum of two years’ experience as outlined in 1.2 above.
Knowledge:
1.5-
One
years’ employment experience in a role providing advice in regards to Data
Protection.

Hourly
rate of pay: £17.59 per hour plus accrued holiday pay
