VANRATH are delighted to be assisting our client, an outstanding local charity with the recruitment of a Fundraising Assistant to join their team located across Northern Ireland.

This is a Full-Time position (5 days a week). Weekend work will be frequent with occasional evening work.

Salary

£23,049 per annum, plus commission.

The purpose of this job role is to recruit new members for the organisation by engaging in face-to-face membership drives at events, shows, and venues. The role includes promoting the organisation’s mission, encouraging donations and raising awareness about its conservation efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with the public at events to recruit new members, meeting set targets via Direct Debit.
  • Educate prospects on Gift Aid benefits and encourage participation if eligible.
  • Act as a positive ambassador, sharing knowledge of the organisation’s conservation work and membership benefits.
  • Work with the team to research venues and events, maintaining strong relationships with venue managers for recruitment success.
  • Ensure data compliance, manage recruitment materials, and submit accurate records on time.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on awareness efforts, attend required training and meetings, and follow fundraising best practices.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum one year of experience in face-to-face sales, promotions, or fundraising.
  • Proven ability to achieve financial targets.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to inspire potential supporters.
  • Confidence in engaging with the public and building rapport.
  • Ability to work independently without daily supervision.
  • Administrative skills for record-keeping and reporting.
  • Basic proficiency in email/calendar software (e.g., MS Outlook or Gmail).
  • Reliable transportation for business purposes.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in donor recruitment for a community or voluntary organisation.
  • Familiarity with the Code of Fundraising Practice and Data Protection laws.
  • Interest in local wildlife and conservation.
