The Art Department is currently one of the largest departments in the school with a suite of 5 Art rooms, with one specialising in clay and a Sixth Form Art Annexe. There are 4 full-time permanent teaching members of the Art Department and one part time teacher. The subject is taught throughout the school to A Level.
The Department is led by one Head of Department and is well supported by one technician.
Art is a compulsory part of the KS3 curriculum. At KS4 students have the choice of GCSE Art, and GCSE Moving Image Arts.
The Art Department has led educational visits and worked with local primary schools.
Art has always been considered an important part of the curriculum for all students in the College.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone to make a positive contribution to a department within a school which has always been innovative about the curriculum and teaching and learning delivery on offer to the students.
The Art Department is well equipped with ICT facilities, including a suite of Apple Mac computers and interactive whiteboards. Each teacher is also issued with a Microsoft Surface Pro laptop.
Extra Art classes meet twice weekly and opportunities are taken to be involved in a wide range of Art projects, competitions and educational initiatives/trips which further enhances the work for students throughout the full range of abilities and across all year groups in the College.
