The Recruitment Co are currently working with a large Public Sector body in recruiting for a Senior Scientific Officer based in Hillsborough on a full time temporary basis.
The post holder during the duration of the UK-DELL project will report to the Project Director and will have a key role in the team leading UK -DELL - a multi-million pound DEFRA funded collaborative research and demonstration programme. While
the focus of the post is to support the delivery of the project, the post holder will also work closely with a dedicated project administrative officer, alongside the AFBI Finance, Research support and Corporate teams to ensure compliance with AFBI’s corporate requirements as well. The main duties within the UK-DELL project and after completion will include:
Project Governance and Finance
• To work closely with the Project Director, Work Package leaders and the project management team , and the Steering Groups (involving project partners) to ensure the delivery of the project.
• To ensure that allocated budgets are handled in a fully audit able manner compliant with funder procedures, and to supply appropriate financial data to funder when required to do so.
• To collate, process, upload and check financial claims made by the Project Partners for the purpose of the project.
Project Reporting
• In consultation with Project Partners, to coordinate preparation of relevant scientific and technical progress reports (monthly and annually) and submit them to the funding body.
• In consultation with Project Partners, to coordinate inputs to the final Project Report.
• To produce financial reports on behalf of the research programme and to submit them to funding body as required.
Project Communications Plan (stakeholder management)
• To assist with implementation of the Project Communication Plan within and with consortium partners.
• To assist with coordination and delivery of various project events as detailed in the Project Communication Plan, including workshops, conferences, stakeholder meetings etc.
Specific Experience / Qualifications required
- A third level qualification at degree level (e.g. B.A.,B.Sc.).
- At least 3 years’ experience of project management in a scientific or business context.
- At least 2 year experience of financial reporting within an organisation.
- At least 2 years’ experience of stakeholder engagement and writing reports for funders / stakeholders
