Our client, A Large public sector organisation, based in the Belfast City Airport area is looking for 3 Agriculture Inspectors to join their team.
Duration: Initially expected to last for 6 months with an option to extend
Rate of pay: £16.09
Weekend pay rate: Sat is £23.32 and Sun £30.54
The rates above are SDA 11% ( Shift Disturbance allowance )
Location: Belfast City Airport-
:staff work 37 hours per week, 5 shifts per week, across a 12-week rota which includes early and late shifts. To meet business needs these are of varying lengths with the SDA rate reflecting this requirement.
Early Shift: 07:00-15:00 to include a 60 minute handover
Late Shift: 14:00 – 22:00 to include a 60 minute handover
Shift patterns may be subject to change, determined by business needs.
Main Duties Include:
- Carrying out checks on passengers’ baggage at airports in order to identify consignments which are in contravention of import legislation. This involves questioning arriving passengers and searching passengers’ baggage.
- Carrying out checks on airline freight. This involves checking documents and inspecting consignments.
- Carrying out checks on parcels/packages at courier/mail warehouses in order to identify consignments which are in contravention of import legislation. This involves identifying parcels, opening and searching them and removing non-compliant consignments.
- Carrying out health checks on pets moving through airports into Northern Ireland.
- The inspector Group 1 will seize non-compliant consignments and will serve official notices.
Essential Criteria:
1 - 2 GCSEs /GCE “O” levels or equivalent*, at Grade C or above in Maths and English
Level 3 Diploma in Work-based Agriculture OR A Level 3 Extended Diploma in Agriculture
OR A Level 3 Advanced Technical Extended Diploma in Agriculture
2 - At least 3 month's experience gained within the last 5 years of working with livestock.
“Livestock is defined as being agricultural animals, the main species being cattle, sheep, pigs, goats and poultry”.
3 - A full, current driving licence enabling the licence holder to drive in Northern Ireland and access to a form of transport which will permit them to meet the requirements of the post in full.
Applications will also be considered from applicants with relevant formal qualifications considered to be of an equivalent or higher standard to those stated.
Relevant or equivalent qualifications: give the type of qualification and date awarded (the date awarded is the date on which you were notified of your result by the official awarding body). If you believe your qualification is equivalent to the one required, the onus is on you to provide the panel with details of modules studied etc. so that a well-informed decision can be made.
* Examples of equivalent qualifications to English and Mathematics GCSE/GCE are “O” levels at Grade C or above or Essential Skills Level 2.
