Randstad are recruiting for an Arts Technician, who is experienced in Printmaking, to join the growing team at Belfast Metropolitan College

Requirements

  • Hold a minimum of a Level 5 qualification in Art with a Printmaking specialism or related discipline PLUS have at least one year’s recent experience working in a technical support role in the area of Art Printmaking OR have at least three years’ recent experience working in a technical support role in the area of Art Printmaking
  • Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety procedures and legislation in a relevant technical environment
  • Practical experience and knowledge in Printmaking Techniques
  • Advanced experience and knowledge of Printmaking
  • Practical experience and knowledge of using Print Presses, the Dyes and Inks used in Printmaking
  • Experience of carrying out maintenance and repair of Print Presses
  • Experience and knowledge of Screen Printing Techniques and Processes
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both individually and as part of a team with a variety of users at different levels, using a wide variety of methods.
  • Candidates will be subject to enhanced vetting checks including an Access NI check before commencement in role

Responsibilities:

  • Support lecturing staff before and during lessons
  • Preparing and making available equipment, material and tools
  • Demonstrating techniques as specified by the lecturer and providing assistance
  • Issuing equipment and materials to students
  • Monitor and report on equipment and materials to ensure safe usage, storage and compliance
  • Clean and maintain equipment and technical areas
  • Dispose of materials, chemicals and equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Carry out and/or advise on, within Health and Safety guidelines, the basic servicing and maintenance of tools and equipment both portable and fixed, and keep records of such servicing and maintenance
  • Maintain records relating to the movement or loan of materials/equipment
  • Prepare displays and presentations of work for promotions and assessment of work
  • Administer the ordering, control and dispensing of stock
  • Monitor inventory and stock levels
  • Ensure appropriate paperwork is recorded and submitted for processing
