Do you have a keen eye for detail and enjoy taking on varied challenges? Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council is looking for two Enforcement Officers to join their Environmental Health team. Key details:

  • Location: Mossley Mill / Newtownabbey
  • Salary: £15.70 per hour + 10% allowance
  • Duration: Full-Time, Temporary until December 2024 (37 hours per week)
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • One Saturday shift every 4 weeks (7:00 am– 3:00 pm). Please note flexible start and end times available on Saturdays (6:00 am - 4:00 pm).
As an Enforcement Officer, you will be an integral part of the Environmental Health Section, working towards the Council's Corporate Plan and contributing to services that are customer-focused and innovative. Your responsibilities:
  • Dog Licensing
  • Litter Control
  • Fly-Tipping of Waste
  • Graffiti and Fly Posting
  • Dog Control
  • Tobacco Control
  • Abandoned Vehicles
  • Animal Welfare
  • Design and Implement Education Campaigns
Criteria:
  • Education: A minimum of 5 GCSEs (including English Language Grade A-C) or equivalent.(Consideration may be given to those without formal qualifications who have at least 1 year’s relevant experience.)
Experience: 6 months' relevant experience, including:
  • Preparing reports
  • Engaging with the public
  • Competent in using IT systems, including Microsoft Office
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised and meet deadlines
  • Ability to attend court and provide evidence as required
  • Working knowledge of current and relevant legislation for the post
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Driving Licence: Full current driving licence or access to suitable transport (if a disability prevents driving).
