Chairperson, The Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment

This is a remunerated public appointment of £20,000 per annum, with an initial four-year term.

The anticipated time commitment associated with the role is 1-2 days per week.

The Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) is Northern Ireland’s principal educational body responsible for Curriculum Development and Implementation, Examinations and Qualifications and Assessment. CCEA plays a central role in Northern Ireland’s education system, setting curriculum frameworks, administering exams, and providing innovative assessment solutions.

As a key body within the education system CCEA influences how young people learn, achieve, and progress in their educational journey with a mission to enable the full potential of all learners to be achieved and recognised.

The role of CCEA Chairperson requires strong leadership and demands an ability to make informed strategic decisions, considering opportunity, impact and risk and the ability to influence across a diverse stakeholder base to reform the Northern Ireland curriculum and qualifications, to deliver positive learning outcomes for all our children and young people.
