- THE ROLE -

The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary research team working to investigate soil enzyme activities and soil microstructure. This post will involve desk based and lab-based research, wherein UU, in collaboration with AFBI, will be focusing on two main tasks: (1) measurement of extracellular enzyme activities that regulate the cycling of carbon in soils and (2) use of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to produce micrographs of soil particles.

The Soil Nutrient Health Scheme (SNHS) was officially launched recently by the DAERA Minister, Edwin Poots. The SNHS is a four year, £45m significant new initiative aimed at improving soil nutrient health and estimating farm carbon stocks, right across Northern Ireland.

We may create a 12-month waiting list for same or similar roles within the Department / Faculty. The University reserves the right to extend the waiting list across the University if required for certain posts.

- ABOUT YOU -

The post holder must have:

- BSc (Hons) in Microbiology, Biomedical Sciences, Environmental Science or a closely related field.
- Have or be about to obtain a Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biomedical Sciences, Environmental Science, or a closely related field.
- Experience of carrying out routine biochemical or microbiological assays.
