Role Overview

The Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the reactive & planned maintenance and repair operations for mechanical and electrical teams. This role ensures timely and efficient response to maintenance requests, compliance with safety standards, and high levels of customer satisfaction. The M&E Manager will lead a team of skilled technicians and coordinate with other departments to maintain operational excellence.


What you’ll do

The following reflect the main tasks associated with the position and are not intended to be exclusive or exhaustive:

Reactive Maintenance

- Oversee all reactive maintenance activities for mechanical and electrical.

- Prioritize and assign maintenance tasks to ensure prompt resolution of issues.

Planned Maintenance

- Oversee planned maintenance throughout the teams, ensuring works to SFG20.

- Development of mobile working solutions specific to SFG20

- Development of remedial logging across all planned works

Resource Management

- Lead, and mentor a team from management including M&E technicians.

- Provide training and support to enhance team performance and skill development.

Operational

- Develop and implement processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of reactive maintenance operations.

- Development of Planned Maintenance works including enhancing the mobile working solutions

Communications

- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by responding promptly to maintenance requests and resolving issues efficiently.

- Maintain clear and effective communication with clients regarding maintenance activities and timelines working closely with service delivery team

Safety and Compliance

- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations and industry standards.

- Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as necessary.

Coordination and Communication

- Coordinate with other departments and external contractors to ensure seamless maintenance operations.

- Facilitate regular meetings to discuss maintenance activities, challenges, and solutions.

Stock

- Oversee the procurement and management of spare parts and maintenance supplies coordinating with commercial team

- Oversee and ensure adequate stock levels and timely replenishment of materials with each team.

Support Operational Efficiency

- Work closely with all teams to streamline processes and improve overall operational efficiency.

- Contribute to the development of best practices and standard operating procedures.

What you’ll bring

As an M&E Manager, your main skills and experience will include the following criteria:

Essential Criteria

  • Possess strong experience managing maintenance operations for mechanical and electrical teams
  • Strong background in M&E engineering, with hands-on experience in maintenance with in-depth knowledge in either or both M&E.
  • Proficiency in using management software (e.g., CAFM / Microsoft)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership, make quick decisions and prioritise tasks under pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with clients, team members, and other stakeholder
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities

Desirable Criteria

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent
