Harrow Shenzhen

Harrow International School Shenzhen opened in September 2020 and is located in the Qianhai Co-operation Zone. The school provides a world class international curriculum, and is designed to cater to a maximum capacity of 1,300 students with outstanding facilities for an Early Years to Sixth Form school with boarding. The school covers an area of 14,700 sqm and connects Harrow School’s Values with Qianhai’s spirit. The campus provides a holistic approach to education, with sports and leisure areas, library and break out spaces, and canteens and lecture halls, allowing students to flow easily between the various teaching and activities areas, in order to learn, collaborate and socialise freely.

Living and Working in Shenzhen

Shenzhen is the youngest first tier city in China where the average age of the population is under thirty. Rated as the best air quality of all first tier cities in China, Shenzhen itself is a wonderful planned city filled with plants and shrubbery on the coast in the warmer southern climate of China. The excitement of Hong Kong is also not too far away.

School Requirements

  • Appropriate degree, with UK PGCE, or other teaching qualification and a minimum 2 years’ of teaching experience
  • Working knowledge of the National Curriculum of England is highly desirable but not essential
  • Previous experience or knowledge of working with pupils for whom English is not their first language
  • Evidence of relevant and challenging continuing professional development Knowledge and experience
  • Be aware and up to date in all relevant safeguarding polices and practice
  • Knowledge and experience of how to use of ICT effectively in promoting pupil learning
  • Recent and consistent involvement in extracurricular activities
  • Respect for all members of a school community, irrespective of position, gender, age and ethnic background
  • Passionate about teaching and a strong commitment to holistic education
  • The ability to inspire pupils through a genuine passion for learning and a desire to lead them towards outstanding academic outcomes
  • A positive and solution-focused attitude to working life
  • Highly motivated, ambitious and collaborative
  • Demonstrate empathy, humility and genuinely care about children, taking the time to listen and motivate them

Salary and Benefits Package

  • A competitive salary package
  • An annual bonus of 10% of salary, subject to appraisal
  • Full health insurance coverage for teachers as well as cover for dependents
  • Onsite full-furnished accommodation provided for teachers in their first two years with the option of living offsite in second and subsequent contracts
  • Return Airfare and baggage allowances for teacher and dependents
  • 100% remission on tuition fees for up to two (2) dependent children attending the School. 50% remission on tuition fees for 3rd dependent child onward.
  • The cost of all working visas, dependents’ resident visas and work permits costs paid for by the school
