Job
Purpose:
The Senior Data
Analyst will play a key role in the provision of complex information analysis
including trend analysis and patient outcome analysis and will establish
mechanisms to support the collection and reporting of patient reported
outcomes.
The Senior Data
Analyst will assist the Information Manager in putting in place processes to
meet the monitoring and reporting requirements, utilising all available data
sources and ensuring systems can fulfil information analysis and reporting
requirements.
The postholder will
also deputise for the Information Manager and assist with the production,
visualisation, interpretation, analysis and presentation of accurate, timely
and appropriate information to enable the quality of care to be monitored,
evaluated and reported to the Trust’s internal and external stakeholders.
Job
Description:
Operational
Delivery
·
Assist the Information Manager with the operational management of
the provision of mandatory and statutory weekly, monthly and quarterly
information returns to the DoH and Commissioners.
·
·Support the compilation of response to queries on all relevant
mandatory and statutory information returns to the DoH and Commissioners.
·
Contribute to the review and implementation of new processes and
information flows to deliver efficiencies in the provision of the information
service – to allow the streamlining of the provision of all statutory and
mandatory information returns – centralising these within the Information Team
to facilitate one exit point for information from the Trust.
·
Co-produce and test Business
Intelligence products such as Qlik apps, Power BI dashboards, or Business
Objects’ Universes.
Information
Management
·
Manipulate data sources to yield new information.
·
Support the development of effective and efficient information
flows and the exploitation of all data sources in addressing the performance
management framework.
·
Perform complex information analysis in response to requests and
queries received from senior managers covering a wide variety of work areas in
accordance with agreed timescales and communicate related issues to information
recipients.
·
Understand and communicate the strengths and limitations of
existing and new data sources and systems – proposing changes to support the
provision of improved information as an output.
Quality
·
Assist the Information Manager with the provision of high quality
information and analysis to assist the monitoring and measurement of key HSC
targets and objectives.
·
Support the Information Manager to ensure the provision of high
quality, timely and accurate performance dashboard information.
·
Assist in the development
of data collection and analysis systems in new areas of performance management
in order to improve the availability of information for monitoring purposes and
quality improvement.
Key
Working Relationship and Staff Management
·
Develop staff capability at every level within the Team in the
effective use of information monitoring and analysis systems and best practice
techniques.
·
Contribute to good relations within the team by ensuring effective
communication and working relationships with all staff for whom he/she is
responsible as well as relevant trade unions/staff organisations.
·
Contribute to the
development and maintenance of procedural guidance and protocols in relation to
the Team’s monitoring and analysis activities.

Criteria:
Applicants must, by the closing date for
applications, have:
1. A Degree in
a Data Science, Computer Science or Maths/Statistics field AND 2 years’
experience in an Information Management / Data Analysis / Business Intelligence
role working at Band 5 or equivalent level.
OR
HNC / HND or equivalent / higher
qualification in a Data Science, Computer Science or Maths/Statistics field AND
3 years’ experience in an Information Management / Data Analysis / Business
Intelligence role including at least 2 years at Band 5 or equivalent level.
OR
5 years’ experience in an
Information Management / Data Analysis / Business Intelligence role including
at least 2 years at Band 5 or equivalent level.
2. Experience
of using MS Office including Advanced Excel spreadsheets.
3. Experience
of collating, analysing and presentation of complex1 Information.
4. Experience
in the use of Analytics / Business Intelligence tools such as Business Objects,
Crystal Reports, Statistical Process Control (SPC) Charts, Qlik, MS Power BI,
etc.
5. Experience
of data visualisation and dashboard reporting.
6. Knowledge
& experience of extract, transform & load (ETL) frameworks and data
management systems.
7. Proficiency
in the use of SQL.
8. Hold a
current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access
to a car on appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants
whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport
approved by the Trust, which will permit them to carry out the duties of the
post.
