Job
Purpose:
Reporting to the ICT
Manager, the post holder will be responsible for managing ICT Support Services,
to include the management of the support and delivery of an extensive range of
ICT systems throughout the Trust. In addition, he/she will contribute to the
delivery of internal technical projects, within Service Delivery, throughout
the entire project lifecycle, ensuring department’s needs are met and that
projects are completed within timescale and budget.
The Post holder will
be working with all service areas affected by the Service Delivery Project’s
within the NIAS Trust ICT department.
The Post holder will
manage the ICT technical support staff and will be responsible for providing
Technical support and Advice to the ICT desktop support team and Trust staff.
Job
Description:
1. To be responsible
for managing ICT Support Services in the ICT Department to include Hosting
Management, Lifecycle management, Purchasing and Staff Management.
2. To manage ICT
support to Line of Business Applications including:
• First line fix
• Storage Management
• Backup management
• Email management
• Antivirus
• Application
Deployment
3. To manage the ICT
Infrastructure technical team in supporting:
• Networks WAN/LAN
• Networks Wi-Fi
• Networks Telephony
• Internet • Servers
• End use Devices
• Patching
4. To engage with
Senior Management and Suppliers on a technical level in the development and
implementation of clinical projects which are dependent on ICT infrastructure.
5. Participate in and
undertake appropriate tasks for both local and regional ICT programmes of work,
reporting on progress as required.
6. Contribute to the
formulation of procedures, standards and guidance for both technical staff and
users of the ICT Service desk and ICT support services.
7. Research and
monitor ICT developments and where appropriate make recommendations for the
introduction of new technologies or systems to support and enhance service
delivery.
8. Analyse and
resolve complex problems related to ICT service desk and ICT support services
9. To maintain the ICT
Asset Register, Systems Catalogue and Contracts Database.
10. To effectively
manage the distribution and update of core ICT systems and back office
applications, including the development of contingency plans.
11. Contribute to
Service Level Agreement (SLA) negotiations, and review with suppliers at agreed
intervals.
12. To manage the
Help Desk Management System, ensuring the ICT technical team investigate and
resolve fault calls to achieve a satisfactory and timely resolution and to
provide monthly Helpdesk KPI’s to Assistant Director of ICT.
13. To provide end
user support and undertake complex fault diagnosis and resolution for the full
range of ICT systems within the Trust ensuring assigned faults are managed in
accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
14. Represent the
Trust in local and regional forums and working groups, relevant to the role,
contributing to the meetings and communicate key actions and points for
discussion with the ICT Manager and the Assistant Director of ICT.
15. Support the
Assistant Director of ICT with the implementation of the Trusts’ ICT Strategy
to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of an extensive range of ICT
systems within the Trust.
16. To maintain and
support third party software within the Trust and manage and liaise with third
parties to provide timely delivery of new services and equipment and the prompt
resolution of faults.

Criteria:
Applicants must, by the closing date for
applications, have:
1. A
University Degree or a recognised equivalent educational qualification in an
ICT discipline and a minimum of two years experience in the installation and
support of the full range of network based computer systems and experience of
managing staff.
OR
HND or recognised equivalent educational
qualification in an ICT discipline and a minimum of three years’ experience in
the installation and support of the full range of network based computer
systems and experience of managing staff.
2. Must be
able to participate in the ICT on call rota.
3. Hold a
current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access
to a car on appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants
whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of

experience of managing the Service Delivery for ICT.
5. Demonstrate
experience of managing staf
6. In depth
knowledge of IT operating systems
7. In depth
knowledge of hardware platforms
