Czechoslovakian-born Zuzi Fletcher originally studied Economy Marketing Management before going travelling. Between 2004 and 2009 she studied Massage Therapy in Prague.
On a visit to Belfast to see a friend she met her future husband and decided to set up her own business, opening Crystal Spirit Day Spa in 2010.
Her salon motto is: “Leave your stress at the door and relax with us while spending time just for yourself.”
DAY IN THE LIFE
8.00am
I start my day by checking all emails, Facebook and Twitter correspondence. I check Facebook and Twitter as clients regularly use these means to contact us to request appointments and ask questions.
I respond to all enquiries and update each site with any new offers or news from the salon.
11.00am
Crystal Spirit Day Spa is open from 12pm until 8pm Tuesday to Saturday, and we also open on Sundays if requested.
We find that Sundays are becoming very popular for those with busy career and family lives where Sundays are the only opportunity that someone may have to attend an appointment.
I arrive at the salon and open up and check and return all voice messages which may be left from the previous evening.
I review the appointment book for the week ahead and calculate the supplies we will need.
I liaise with the local bakery which we use for cupcakes for hen and birthday parties, ordering the relevant items.
I ensure that the wax is heating for treatments and that the champagne is chilling for any spa packages taking place.
12.00pm
Each day is different in the salon.
With a full range of beauty treatments — including manicures, facials, waxing and also 10 different massage options, including aromatherapy, antistress and hot stones.
I never have any day the same as the next. It also gives me the opportunity to work side by side with my sister-in-law, Rachel.
We find the couples packages, which involve a range of massages —are particularly popular at the minute.
Crystal Spirit Day Spa has been open for over two years now and I am still as passionate about my job as on the day I first started.
The most important aspect of my job is to ensure that each customer leaves happy, whether they have come in for an eyebrow wax or a massage and spa.
My aim is that each client looks forward to their visit to the salon and feels the better for it when they leave.
3.00pm
I meet with various reps and suppliers on a frequent basis; I’ve also been meeting regularly with a local website designer to get our new website online – www.crystalspiritspa.com.
About this time I also do a quick stock take to make sure we have all supplies needed for the days ahead.
5.00pm
Ahead of the arrival of clients who have booked in for spa packages I make sure that the bath robes are warmed, the steam room is on and the Jacuzzi is heated and filled.
I also check all the living flame fires to make sure they are on and heating the rooms that are going to be used.
I prepare fruit platters and strawberries and ensure champagne and glasses are chilled.
8.00pm
Crystal Spirit Day Spa closes at 8pm.
Depending on the treatments we have booked in, I can close the salon at 8pm, but most evenings we will be open later.
If clients are in the spa and are relaxed and enjoying themselves we certainly wouldn’t ask them to leave.
We want people to enjoy the experience and to leave as relaxed as possible — having it cut short would definitely go against that!
Once every client has left, I thoroughly clean the salon and each treatment room ahead of the next day.
I make sure I’m aware of the treatments happening the next day.
I check our voice mail again before leaving the salon for the evening.
9.00pm
Home for dinner and a good catch up with my husband Michael.
10.00pm
Again I check Facebook, emails and Twitter. Crystal has monthly offers which I like to promote heavily via Facebook and Twitter to ensure that all our followers are up to date.
The aim of Crystal Spirit Day Spa is to provide a luxury experience at an affordable price.
I try to make sure that we have offers on different treatments every month so we appeal to everyone.
