Two new Assured Skills Academies will provide high quality training places in the areas of IT and welding.
The Version 1 Assured Skills Academy will provide 20 training places and the guarantee of an interview with the company upon successful completion of the eight weeks of industry-relevant pre-employment training at Belfast Met.
This Assured Skills Academy is the second in a series of six following the announcement in June that the company is creating 180 jobs.
Lorna McAdoo, Director of Operations Version 1 Northern Ireland, said: “This is our second Assured Skills Academy following on from the hugely successful Academy earlier this year. These Assured Skills Academies will continue to run over the next two years and represent our ongoing commitment to Northern Ireland and our ambition to be one of the most successful IT companies here. Investment in local tech and IT talent who can help our customers accelerate their digital transformation is paramount to this ambition.”
Experience is not required but applicants must hold at least a 2:2 degree in any discipline, or a level 5 qualification in an ICT or STEM Subject. Applications for the second Version 1 Assured Skills Academy are open now and close at 5pm on October 20.
Meanwhile a further Assured Skills Collaborative Welding Academy at South West College (SWC) is offering an opportunity for 12 people to receive industry standard welding training that will provide them with the skills they need to secure a role with companies in the local area.
Successful participants will attend a six-week intensive training course delivered by SWC, a dedicated training facility in Cookstown where they will study ETCAL Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations and Certified Abrasive Wheels Training.
Following completion of the training, participants will be guaranteed an interview to take up a welding position at one of the 18 supporting companies. As a result of the first four welding academies at SWC, 38 participants have already secured employment with the companies supporting those academies.
Ciaran McManus, Assistant Chief Executive of South West College, said: “South West College is committed to working in partnership with the Department and local industry to design and deliver high quality training interventions which prepare participants to take up employment in the engineering and manufacturing sector.”
No previous experience in welding is required and the Academy will be delivered from November 29 to January 21.
