Northern Ireland’s travel sector is creating up to 10 new jobs thanks to business secured by local firm Selective Travel.
As part of a major new contract with Queen’s University Belfast, Selective Travel has brought together 13 airlines as well as hoteliers and car hire firms in a new partnership to exclusively meet the university’s corporate travel needs.
As part of the arrangement, Selective Travel is now Queen’s University’s sole corporate travel supplier and a new dedicated universities division within Selective Travel will service the contract.
This partnership with Queen’s, together with its appointment to supply to the Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium, which includes around 250 universities and higher education departments across the UK, will necessitate the creation of up to 10 new posts.
Selective will provide the full range of travel management requirements for Queen’s, from booking low-cost domestic flights to organising complex multi-segment itineraries for university personnel travelling throughout the world for research and engagements.
Mukesh Sharma, managing director of Selective Travel, welcomed the new contract: “We’re delighted to be working with Queen’s University and to have been able to bring a wide range of airlines together to showcase our offering to university staff.
“It is a very significant contract for us and one which we realise will play an important role in allowing university staff to carry out their research and business outside of Northern Ireland and around the world.”
Selective Travel and its associate companies supply travel to corporate clients throughout the UK & Ireland in all industry sectors. Selective Travel is based in Murray’s Exchange in Belfast and employs over 40 people.
