What made you apply to Translink’s Operational Management Trainee Programme?
I worked in Translink’s Contact Centre when I was a student and knew it was the kind of company that I could grow a career in. When I saw the Graduate Scheme advertised, I knew the programme would help me develop my skills and experience, so I applied straight away!
How would you summarise your experience of the programme?
The Graduate Operational Management Programme was a great experience, one that gives exposure to all aspects of the business. This diverse scheme allowed me to build strong networks throughout the company which helps when managing a busy operational station. I was encouraged to go on several training programmes to help expediate my development in management and I obtained my certificate of professional competence in passenger.
What were the best and most challenging aspects of the programme?
The best and most challenging aspects of the programme were at the start, when you move around the business to different departments and divisions, there is a lot to take in and understand! This helps when you’re in operational placements as you see how all the departments work to support each other. In addition, learning to drive a bus and obtaining a category D driving licence was both fun and challenging!

Don’t hesitate, it is a brilliant programme where you are fully supported throughout with lots of opportunities to develop and progress.
