NORTHERN Ireland’s first ever Coffee Festival will take place at T13 in The Titanic Quarter, Belfast this weekend.
The event, which is the brainchild of self-confessed coffee lovers Roger Gowdy and Deepak Samson, is a celebration of the vibrant coffee culture in Northern Ireland, and will also play host to Northern Ireland’s Barista Championship 2015.
The festival will feature live coffee roasting, a photo exhibition of Fairtrade coffee cooperatives, expert talks, artisan coffee, tea and gourmet food stalls, tastings and demonstrations from top roasters, barista competitions, cinema, street food, coffee infused live music and much more.
There will also be sports and arts activities on offer for children and young people at the event.
Alliance MLA Chris Lyttle has welcomed the creation of the NI Coffee Festival. He said: “Many of the major cities across Europe have been hosting coffee festivals for a number of years and it’s great that Northern Ireland is hosting its own dedicated festival.”
The event takes place from 10am–7pm on Saturday and 10am–5pm on Sunday. Tickets cost £6 and are available online. Children under 12 go free.
