STUDENTS in Belfast will have a unique opportunity to design and prototype a product, through an innovative new initiative funded by Belfast City Council.
Budding entrepreneurs can take part in the Make it to Market challenge — an enterprise competition open to third-level education students living in the city.
Once proposals have been submitted, 10 teams will be selected to develop their ideas and pitch these to a panel of judges. Four of these teams will then be selected to prototype their products in the FabLab — a digital manufacturing laboratory in the Ashton Centre.
The winning product will go into production and be sold in the UK to raise money for Ten Foundations, a Northern Ireland-based charity working to help homeless children living in the Philippines.
Students must be from either: Queen’s University; University of Ulster; Stranmillis University College; St Mary’s University College and Belfast Metropolitan College.
