BELFAST Metropolitan College is recruiting deaf learners as part of a Sign Language Tutor Training Project which aims to create the first pool of fully qualified Sign Language teachers in Northern Ireland by 2015.
BMC has secured funding from the Department for Employment and Learning for teaching Maths, English and Level 6 British/Irish Sign Language to a group of 20 deaf adults.
The aim is to up-skill this cohort so they can progress to a Certificate in Teaching followed by a PGCE at the University of Ulster.
An information evening will be held on Wednesday January 30 at 6.30pm at the College’s Titanic Quarter campus after which the application process will open. Courses will begin in March.
