PENINSULA Care Services has hosted its third annual Heart of Peninsula Care Awards.
The awards, held in the Marine Court Hotel, Bangor, in association with the Sunday Life, were created to reward and recognise the company’s most talented, dedicated and loyal staff.
Established in 2009 Pininsula now boasts a head office and training academy in Newtownards, as well as a satellite branch in Belfast.
The overall winner of the title, the Heart of Peninsula Care, on the night was Lynne Groves who also clinched the Care at Home Division’s Client Choice Award.
Explaining how Lynne was the deserved winner managing director, Jonny Cook said: “Lynne came to work with us just over a year ago having worked as a cook in a sheltered house. Lynne, once completing her training and shadowing of more senior staff, immediately took to the role of a Community Care Worker like a duck to water. She is extremely caring and does little, thoughtful things that make a massive impact on her service users’ life, for example she bakes biscuits and buns and has been known to distribute trifle to each of them at Christmas.
“A few weeks ago she was due to meet a service user at home, however he wasn’t there and she then found him in his electric wheelchair by the roadside. It seemed that the wheel chair battery had run out of charge, so she called him a taxi and waited until it arrived. Lynne goes beyond her duty of care and is so modest when she receives praise, saying ‘I’m simply doing my job.’ Her service users think the world of her and she is so deserved of her award.”
Congratulating all the winners Jonny said: “Peninsula Care Services wouldn’t be the multi award winning domiciliary care and nursing recruitment company in Northern Ireland if it wasn’t for my 200 strong staff, many of whom have worked with me since the conception of the company seven years ago.”
He continued: “The Heart of Peninsula Awards are certainly going from strength to strength and we are indebted to all our sponsors, especially our media partner The Sunday Life, Cafollas Café in Newtownards and The Londonderry Arms in Carnlough who gave our winners very generous prizes.”
