Over 2000 Vacancies on Offer at Job Fairs

A SERIES of job fairs and advice forums will take place across Northern Ireland in September and October.

Almost 170 large and small employers from across Northern Ireland will be available across the events to answer questions, discuss training and employment opportunities.

Industry professionals from various sectors will also be hosting information sessions.

To date, over 2,250 vacancies have been confirmed as being available, with this figure continuing to rise.

The four fairs will take place in the Canal Court Hotel in Newry on September 10, Londonderry’s Millennium Forum on September 23, Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre in Ballymoney on October 1 and the Europa Hotel in Belfast on October 21.

Each of the events will run from 10am to 4pm.

They have been organised by the Department for Employment and Learning. Speaking ahead of the Job Fairs and Advice Forums, Minister for Employment and Learning Stephen Farry said: “These events bring employers, support organisations and jobseekers together under one roof.

“The job fairs have something for everyone and I would encourage anyone, whether in work, unemployed or simply considering their education and training options, to explore the services which will be available on each day.”

A wide range of vacancies will be available at each event, including opportunities in Information Technology, Hospitality and Media and Creative Industries.

Advice and guidance will also be available on a range of training and re-skilling opportunities.

The minister added: “A range of support organisations, for example my department’s Careers Service and Employment Service, will also be present to provide individuals with information, advice and guidance on a range of training and employment schemes that can assist individuals progress towards work and better employment prospects, equipping them with the skills to compete in the labour market and meet the needs of employers.”
