AN upcoming recruitment event aims to highlight the opportunities available overseas for newly qualified nurses and midwives.
Attending the Skills4Nurses Annual Nursing & Midwifery Recruitment Show will be healthcare employers from Australia and Dubai as well as from NHS trusts across England and Scotland.
A spokesperson for Skills4Nurses said: “Presently there are so few jobs in nursing and midwifery both in the Northern and Southern Ireland, which is a travesty, as we have had many enquiries from newly qualified nurses, who just cannot find employment within the industry and have had to take up other offers outside of nursing. But there are some fantastic opportunities available in the UK and abroad. It doesn’t have to be a bleak future for Ireland’s caring health professionals.
“We’ve brought together a whole host of nursing and midwifery employers from across the globe who are looking to fill vacancies. There are plenty of opportunities for experienced as well as newly qualified health professionals. One Australian employer attending the event is looking to fill 25 jobs in midwifery, 50 registered mental nurse posts and 100 registered general nurse positions, with contracts on offer from 12 months up to four years.”
The event takes place at the Europa Hotel on April 23 and at the Ballsbridge Inn Hotel, Dublin, on April 25. Interviews will take place on the day so those attending are advised to bring their CV, identification and nursing registration
