Meanwhile, an event later this month will highlight the job and training opportunities to be created by the Ulster University’s (UU) expansion.
Ulster University Greater Belfast Development Employment and Skills Event will showcase the jobs which have been, and will be, created as a direct result of the social clause requirements included in the contract for the final major construction element associated with the relocation project.
The event is at the university’s Belfast campus on January 20 from 10am until 4pm and attendees will be able to apply for a range employment of opportunities.
Minister for Employment and Learning, Stephen Farry said: “The potential for job creation during the construction phase of the new UU campus is considerable and I am delighted that my department, with the university, has led the way in terms of social clause commitments creating 20 jobs during the life of this project.
The contractors, Lagan Somague, will also be required to provide four students with 40 weeks work experience each and maintain apprenticeships at a level of 5% in its workforce for the duration.”
