EMPLOYMENT and Learning Minister Stephen Farry has launched the next round of open days to be held in Northern Ireland’s regional colleges.
He said: “The Further Education (FE) sector plays a key role in the social and economic development of the people of Northern Ireland. Open days are an excellent opportunity for parents and prospective students of all ages to learn more about the wide range of courses and facilities available. Our local colleges offer a unique learning environment, with state-of-the-art facilities, along with quality learning and support services.” The open days in the Regional Colleges will be held as follows:
Belfast Met — February 8 and 13, Titanic Quarter Campus.
South West College — February 25 (Dungannon, Enniskillen and Omagh campuses).
North West Regional College — March 20, Derry~Londonderry (Strand Road and Springtown), Limavady (Main Street and Greystone), Strabane.
Southern Regional College — March 5, Portadown; March 6, Newry; March 11, Banbridge; March 12, Lurgan and Kilkeel campuses; March 13, Armagh.
Northern Regional College — March 3, Coleraine; March 4, Magherafelt; March 5, Ballymena and Newtownabbey campuses; March 6, Ballymoney.
South Eastern Regional College (full-time courses only) — March 5 (Lisburn, Downpatrick, Newtownards and Bangor).
Academic, careers and student support staff will be on hand to advise, guide and help everyone attending. Events will host exhibitions of students’ work, tours of the facilities, industry seminars, curriculum and careers workshops, as well as interactive activities.
The minister said: “Our local colleges can provide different routes to achieving your future goals; offering apprenticeships, essential skills course, foundation degrees and vocational qualifications. They (young people) will get the opportunity to chat to students, learn more about subject areas and course options, and see the facilities first-hand.”
