An upcoming jobs fair will offer jobseekers a range of opportunities with leading local employers.
The event, arranged by the Department for Employment and Learning (DEL), will take place on Wednesday, November 21 in the Europa Hotel, Belfast.
The jobs fair, which is co-financed by the European Commission, commences at 10am and runs until 6pm.
It is free of charge to attend and will offer members of the public the chance to discuss current job opportunities with leading local companies.
Commenting on the launch of the event, Minister for Employment and Learning Stephen Farry said: “I welcome my Department’s association with this Jobs Fair which brings employers, support organisations and jobseekers together under one roof.”
Clearly this event demonstrates that, despite the economic downturn, employers are still looking to recruit both seasonal and permanent staff and that there are employment opportunities for jobseekers.
This event is not just for those currently actively seeking employment, it is also aimed at assisting people who want to get back into work but who may have particular barriers that prevent them from doing so.
Irrespective of the obstacles an individual faces, as well as employers, there will also be a range of support organisations exhibiting at the event and offering a multitude of courses, programmes, advice and guidance including my Department’s Careers Service and Employment Service.
Leading employers such as Tesco, Allstate, Botanic Inns and Belfast City Council have already signed up for the event and will be offering jobs on the day. The employment opportunities are mainly in the catering, hospitality, care, administrative, call centre, and IT sectors.
Various other support organisations will also form a ‘Youth Village’Â? at the event to providing information, advice and guidance in career, educational and training opportunities for younger jobseekers.
Other companies represented at the event will include Viking Recruitment, Seabourn Cruise Line, Norbrook Laboratories, Santander, Crossroads Care for Carers, Wesser Ltd, Bluebird Care, Search Consultancy, McCloy Consulting, Belfast Health Trust, DEL, Belfast Wellness Centre, Positive Futures, Omnisoft Services Ltd and Grafton Recruitment
