An Upcoming job fair in Newcastle will bring employers, jobseekers and support organisations together under one roof.
The event, which is free and open to all, will take place on Tuesday, March 31 in the Slieve Donard Hotel, Newcastle. The Job Fair has been organised by the Department for Employment and Learning and will offer jobseekers employment opportunities, careers guidance and advice on training and jobsearch skills.
Over 20 employers including BT Flex, MJM, Peak Discover/ Winterfell Tours, Norbrook, Blue Fin Software and Kilkeel Seafoods will be in attendance, as will a number of support and training organisations.
A number of organisations will be in attendance with a view to employing people in posts supporting the upcoming Irish Open golf tournament to be held at Royal County Down Golf Club at the end of May.
Andrew Porter from Winterfell Tours, who organise team building events including one based upon the Game of Thrones television series and will be recruiting at the event, said: “The job fair gives us the opportunity to interact with potential applicants and allows our recruitment to be more effective.
“This event demonstrates that DEL, local employers and training organisations are working in partnership to help jobseekers find the most appropriate route into employment and employers recruit a skilled work force.”
Employment and Learning Minister Stephen Farry said: “This event brings employers, support organisations and jobseekers together under one roof. The Job Fair has something for everyone and I would encourage anyone, whether in work, unemployed or simply considering their education and training options, to explore the services that will be available on the day.”
Visitors will also have the opportunity to participate in a series of job club workshops and can receive assistance with online jobsearch.
