ACCENTUATE ALL THOSE POSITIVES
No matter what your experience or qualifications are it is rare for people to get the first job they apply for.
Rejection is a part of job-hunting but it can be difficult to deal with, particularly if you have been searching for some time. The key to success is to avoid getting depressed by staying positive and accepting what is beyond your control.
HINTS AND TIPS
STACK THE ODDS IN YOUR FAVOUR: Don’t pin all your hopes on one particular job, it’s a competitive market. Where possible, apply for multiple opportunities and be flexible in your search.
ASK FOR FEEDBACK: You might not like what you hear but constructive feedback is a useful learning curve when itcomes to interview technique.
FOCUS ON YOUR STRENGTHS: You may not have been right for this job, but that’s not to say you don’t have excellent skills and qualities that will be perfectly suited to another company. Focus on your strengths and achievements rather than dwelling on setbacks.
DON’T TAKE IT PERSONALLY: This is business and employers are on the lookout for someone who is going to be of benefit to their company, they are not trying to make friends.
DEAL WITH IT AND MOVE ON: Talk it through with someone you trust, consider what you’ve learnt from the experience and then let it go.
STAY POSITIVE: Finding a job requires persistence and resilience. Try to learn from every experience on your job hunt journey, and improve on your CV and interview skills. Keep reminding yourself that rejection is a natural part of the process, everyone experiences it.
