A CAMPAIGN to fill graduate teaching posts is amongst the public sector job opportunities in today’s NIJobfinder.
The advertised vacancies are in connection with the Delivering Social Change Signature Project, which aims to employ an additional 230 recently graduated teachers, who are not currently in a permanent teaching post.
The project, announced by the Office of the First Minister and deputy First Minister in October 2012, proposes to employ the graduates on a two-year fixed-term contract to enable schools to deliver tuition and support for children in primary and post-primary schools who are currently struggling to achieve basic educational standards.
For more information on the posts and how to apply see page four of the supplement.
Meanwhile, more than 400 quality new jobs are set to be created at a healthcare company in Larne.
The 416 positions at Terumo BCT, a pioneer in the development of blood processing technologies, include entry level manufacturing, scientific, microbiology, chemistry and engineering jobs.
Terumo BCT is headquartered in Colorado and is a member of the Terumo Group family of companies owned by the Japanese-based Terumo Corporation.
The new jobs with the global medical device manufacturing company are being supported with over £2m of support from Invest NI through its Jobs Fund.
The firm is also investing over £2m in two research and development (R&D) projects, the first research activities that will be undertaken at the Larne facility.
Making the announcement First Minister Peter Robinson welcomed the jobs boost and the commitment of local people in providing high quality standards at Terumo, saying it would have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of people around the world.
He commented: “As global leaders return home after G8, there can be no more fitting endorsement of the local investment proposition than an announcement such as this by a global leader in the healthcare sector.”
Troy Deppey, a senior executive at Terumo, said: “The capability of the Larne facility is renowned throughout the company and our global markets so I am delighted that, with Invest NI’s support, we can grow this facility and really cement our presence here. Global demand for our products is increasing and the R&D activities in particular will enable us to tap into the skills and research base in order to develop new products and processes that will increase competitiveness and maintain our reputation for quality excellence.”
Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster credited Terumo with helping the Executive in their long-term commitment to stimulating economic growth and creating jobs in order to build a positive future for Northern Ireland.
