Role: Outbound Sales Acquisition
Company: Barclay Communications
Track Record:
What does your job entail?
Barclay Communications is one of the largest B2B communications providers in Northern Ireland, servicing thousands of customers from across the UK. My job focuses on managing both existing and potential customers’ communication needs, keeping them up to date with the latest deals from our partner networks including O2 and EE, and offering cost cutting advice about new services and products as they become available.
Is it 9-5?
Monday to Thursday I work 8.30am to 5pm, on Fridays, 9am to 5pm.
How did you get into this line of work?
Having previous experience in call centres selling mobile phone contracts, I naturally jumped at the opportunity to work at Barclay Communications. Working at Barclay Communications provides an opportunity to expand your skills while dealing with customers in a B2B environment. The Outbound Sales team is expanding at a rapid rate, and is currently looking for up to 30 more Telesales Acquisition Executives to come on board.
Outline your career to date?
I began selling additional insurance for British Gas, selling without opinion or advice meant I had to build rapport with customers in order to sell. From there I moved on to the Additional Connection Department for O2 which gave me insight into selling handsets/tablets and experience dealing with O2 consumer customers. This role gave me crucial experience in questioning customers on their needs, allowing me to determine the best deal for them. I joined Barclay Communications with my previous 6 months experience with O2, a great fit with Barclay Communications being a Direct Partner of O2, and have since come on leaps and bounds. Barclay Communications recognise their staff who work hard and have fantastic bonus schemes and monthly incentives that reward those who work hard and have a professional attitude.
Tell us about your qualifications/training.
Obtaining my GCSEs at Ulidia Integrated College, I went on to receive an M-M-P National Diploma in Engineering at the Northern Regional College before completing my OCN Level 2 with the NEELB.
What qualities are required for your job – personal and professional?
Being eager to learn and adaptable is crucial for the job, also having great time keeping skills and the ability to work within a team as well as alone. At Barclay Communications, we are rewarded for self-motivation and drive, and there are several opportunities to progress within the company for ambitious individuals.
What are the biggest challenges and rewards of your work?
The biggest challenge of our role in turn equals the biggest reward, doing the utmost for our customers. My manager is constantly involved with me, my team and colleagues to ensure we adhere to Barclay Communications responsible business practices.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to keep active, playing rugby, working out at the gym and socialising with friends.
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.
I have previously worked in the US as a swim teacher/lifeguard.
Who has inspired you most in your life?
It would be easy to mention any successful entrepreneur such as Richard Branson, Mark Zuckerberg or even Jordan Belfort but without question my mother is my main inspiration, raising 3 kids all on her own.
