Countdown begins for the CIPD awards

17th September 2013

The shortlist for the inaugural Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) Northern Ireland Awards has been revealed.

The Awards, which are aimed at celebrating excellence in local HR practice, will recognize initiatives that have transformed business and organizational performance as well as the contribution individuals and teams working in the HR discipline have made to the way people are managed and developed.

Nijobfinder is proud media partner for the awards which will be presented in eight categories with local recruitment specialists Brightwater as the headline sponsor of the event.

The categories include: the HR Professional of the Year award, the CIPD Chairman’s Special Achievement award and the Outstanding HR Student of the Year.

CIPD NI Chairman, Donal Laverty said:

“2013 marks the Centenary of the CIPD and the NI Committee felt that this significant milestone was a fitting opportunity to introduce HR excellence awards. Locally the CIPD has over 3000 members working across the private, public and voluntary sectors in businesses and organisations large and small.

“The CIPD NI Awards have been designed to provide local practitioners with a platform to highlight their innovation and expertise and, in doing so, inspire their peers and the wider business and organizational community about what can be achieved.”

Three finalists will be vying for the Employee Engagement Initiative of the Year prize: Newtownabbey Borough Council; Allstate NI and Sliderobes. Sponsored by the Department for Employment and Learning, the award will go to an organisation whose performance level emanates directly from high impact employee engagement initiatives.

The Health and Wellness Initiative of the Year award will recognise organisations that have demonstrated a clear link between initiatives to support employee health and wellbeing and business objectives. The finalists are Viridian, Allstate NI and Diageo.

Brightwater is also sponsoring the Change Management Programme of the Year prize, which will go to an organisation that has enhanced business performance by implementing a programme of major change over the past 18 months. Citi, Translink, Belfast Metropolitan College and Young Enterprise NI are in the running for the award.

The finalists in the Building HR Capability for the Future category are Viridian, Diageo, Allstate NI and Translink. This award will recognise an organisation that shows a firm commitment to ensuring HR has the skills needed to play a vital role in enhancing business performance, both now and in the future.

Two organisations will be battling it out for the HR Team of the Year title: Belfast Health and Social Care Trust and Allstate NI. This award, sponsored by the Ulster Business School at the University of Ulster, recognises HR teams for their work within the HR function and their business partnering with other functions.
