AN award-winning consultancy firm is actively recruiting for undergraduate and postgraduate engineers.
Penso Consulting Limited, an automotive consultancy that serves vehicle manufacturers worldwide, will be present at the Northern Ireland Graduate Recruitment Fair at the University of Ulster on June 10.
The technology-driven business is hoping to attract fresh, new talent to bring in creative ideas and help meet its expanding order book.
This current recruitment drive continues the successful growth of the company which has experienced a 26% staff increase over the past year and now employs 180 staff. In the past two years, 25 graduates were taken on board and another 20 will be employed this fiscal year.
In keeping with Penso’s comprehensive scope of consulting, composites and niche vehicles, the current recruitment objectives cover a broad range of graduate opportunities using the latest ‘virtual reality’ computer technology.
Commenting on the increasing need for high-calibre graduates, Penso’s sales director Michael Collins said: “We have recently won a number of really exciting new contracts, which must of course remain strictly confidential. However, I can reveal that they involve the use of our most advanced automotive technologies and have the most rigorous targets for quality, timing, weight and cost.
“We already have an excellent team of people, based both at our Coventry and Essex facilities, and we are seeking a number of graduates in various engineering disciplines to strengthen our team. In addition to strong technical proficiency, we are looking for people with what we call the ‘Penso Spirit’; they will be open, honest and direct, as well as keen to seek innovative and creative solutions for a complexity of engineering issues.”
Meanwhile, aspiring entrepreneurs will now have a new avenue to test their ideas and products with customers as Lean Startup Machine brings its internationally acclaimed three-day bootcamp to Belfast next month. The event received more than 300 online votes in just eight days in order to ‘unlock’ Belfast as the next location for its 48-hour educational experience that gets businesses ‘fit’ for purpose and is the scheme’s first visit to Ireland.
New York headquartered ‘LSM’ aims to help entrepreneurs gain feedback and early-stage revenue from their first products and is based on the Lean Startup Methodology, which works to help early stage businesses quickly develop and capitalise on a product or service.
The event will be held in The HUB at Commercial Court, Belfast, from June 20-22 and is sponsored by Invest NI, Tughans Solicitors, Microsoft Ventures, Elance, John Mac Mahon &Co, Xcell Partners and StartupZap. It is limited to 50 participants, who will receive guidance and mentoring from other entrepreneurs during the programme.
