A senior role at a children’s charity with a base in Belfast has gone on the job market with a salary of £70,000.
The post of director for children’s services at Action for Children, is a permanent, full-time role based on Heron Road, where the national charity supports the most vulnerable and neglected children and young people here.
Among its services are Sure Start Centres in Ballymena, Larne, Downpatrick and Londonderry’s Waterside as well as a Young Carer’s service which supports eight to 18 year olds through group work and one-to-one support.
Every year nationwide, Action for Children’s services help improve the lives of 330,000 children.
Speaking out yesterday about the government’s announcement to put “prevention at the top of the mental health agenda”, the charity welcomed the news but pushed for more urgency.
It said in a statement: “Government plans now need to go further and take a more joined up approach to supporting children from their earliest years, with adequate funding and targeted support to stop a generation of children from suffering mental health issues in the future.”
The senior role at the charity in Belfast allows for eight weeks of holidays – including statutory holidays.
This role is no longer available.
