ULSTER University graduate, Roger Bonnar, has been named Northern Ireland’s top architecture student. Roger received the recognition from the Royal Society of Ulster Architects (RSUA) for his work in creating a new vision for Glenarm Village. He was commended for his transfor-mation of a former industrial site into an innovative social hub for the community.
The project, which was developed during his final year at UU’s School of Architecture, preserves the renowned limestone landscape while creating a modern space for restaurants, bars and accommodation.
Jenny Russell, Associate Head, Belfast School of Architecture, said: “Ulster University is producing the future generation of architects who are equipped with the expertise and creative flair to transform the built environment. Our graduates are award-winning and this is the sixth time in seven years that an Ulster University stu-dent has taken home this important prize.
Roger’s award is testament to his hard work throughout the final year and the dedication of teaching staff at the Belfast School of Architecture.”
