Fujitsu Northern Ireland is celebrating after being named as the region’s best apprenticeship employer at this year’s Rate My Apprenticeship Awards held in London.
Based solely on reviews from apprentices on RateMyApprenticeship.co.uk, the awards celebrate the best employers across 12 different regions in the UK. Fujitsu was crowned the highest scoring company in Northern Ireland, taking home the coveted title of Rate My Apprenticeship Regional Winner 2019-20.
Apprentices provided feedback on support received by the employer, extra-curricular activities to get involved in at work, salary and the course structure.
Speaking about the award Apprentice Programme Manager, Louise Hull said: “We strive to offer apprenticeships that give today’s young people hands-on, practical experience as well as mentorship support to equip them with the necessary skills and experience required to meet the demanding needs of a career in an ever-evolving ICT sector.
“We are committed to playing an integral role in inspiring the next generation of technologists, providing young people with transferable skills they will need in their future careers, so this accolade is a welcomed sign we are on the right track. We want to thank all apprentices who rated our courses and everyone at Fujitsu who continue to make our Apprenticeship Scheme the success it is.”
Meanwhile, a technology company is set to open a new hub in Belfast creating 41 new jobs.
Chargifi’s Technology and Business Development Hub is part of the company’s expansion plan that aims to significantly increase its sales by developing its presence in the UK, Europe, Middle East, Africa, USA, Canada and the APAC region.
Chargifi’s SaaS platform connects Chargifi SmartSpot wireless chargers to the cloud which means they can be monitored and managed, as well as connected into other systems as a smart Internet of Things (IoT) device. This enables venues to future proof their buildings by offering their clients access to reliable and convenient power.
It is expected that the new jobs will contribute over £1.8m in annual salaries to the local economy and will introduce new skills and new opportunities to the ICT sector here.
CEO at Chargifi, Dan Bladen said: “We anticipate that the market for wireless charging will grow significantly over the next couple of years. Chargifi has the vision and technology to help drive fast adoption in the market and we are gearing up to meet the ever-increasing demand. The new hub in Belfast is an important part of our growth story.”
