Joanna MacMahon from East Belfast has been recognised for her achievements in creative design by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal and the Worshipful Company of Haberdashers at Buckingham Palace.
Joanna (61) has studied a number of creative courses at Belfast Metropolitan College, starting with a leisure course and most recently the Level 3 Certificate in Creative Techniques (Textiles), for which she received this prestigious Medal of Excellence award from the Livery Company.
The mother of three has made clothes and soft furnishings as a past-time since she was a teenager, but was looking for a new outlet for her creativity when she discovered the textiles course.
Joanna has also been asked to stage an exhibition of her work in the Haberdasher’s Hall in London in the next few months.
