New CEO and inspectors are sought at health body

16th April 2019

The body tasked with monitoring care homes and other aspects of health and social care is seeking a new chief executive.

The Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA) is looking for a new chief to replace Olive Macleod, who has led the organisation since 2016.

The RQIA was set up in 2005 to monitor and inspect the availability and quality of health and social care in Northern Ireland.

The role has a pay range of £83,000 to £110,000. The RQIA is also searching for nurses, social workers and other health professionals to join its inspection team as a band seven inspector.

Successful candidates will join a team of inspectors who monitor care homes, domiciliary care, dental practices and other locations.

In other health roles, the Northern Health and Social Care Trust is recruiting a director of human resources, organisational development and corporate communications. The successful candidate will also be required to provide corporate and strategic leadership and will be a member of the trust’s executive team.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) is recruiting a corporate communications manager and two corporate communications advisers. The role of manager attracts a pay range of around £40,000 to £43,000, while advisers are paid up to £30,756 per year.

The NIFRS said the role of corporate communications manager will be responsible for “effective and efficient corporate communications” both internally and externally. It is seeking someone with experience of corporate communications.

And advisers are required to have experience of working in corporate communications. A number of roles are also available in the Northern Ireland Civil Service, including the post of director at grade five in the roads and rivers division of the Department for Infrastructure. The range of salary is from £69,951 to £79,849 but is under review.

The department is also on the hunt for skilled operatives who will be paid weekly at a rate of up to £435 gross. There are three posts available — one covering Bangor, Holywood and Newtownards, another for Lisburn, Dunmurry and Carryduff, and a third role covering East Belfast and Dundonald.

Applications from women and Catholics are sought, as the department said both were under-represented in the organisation.

Also, co-ed grammar Lumen Christi College in Derry is seeking a “dynamic, dedicated and child-centred” vice-principal.
