Financial firm recognised for nurturing approach

27th October 2015

FINANCIAL management company JohnstonCampbell has been honoured for its efforts in supporting the young careers of promising financial undergraduates.

The firm received the Employer Recognition Award at the Queen’s Management School Placement Awards in acknowledgement of its proactive approach in making the workplace as accessible and accommodating as possible to the leaders of tomorrow.

Director at JohnstonCampbell, Graham Glover, who accepted the award on behalf of the company, said: “We are pleased to be in a position to offer students a role within our organisation as over the years it has proved to be both a benefit to the individual and JohnstonCampbell.

“It is a valuable experience for students to learn the ins and outs of the industry and allows us to bring forward some of our research projects to a more prominent position.

“Over the last number of years we have been very happy with the high calibre of students who have assisted in our offering of investment management, financial planning, pension advice and tax planning to clients.”

Last year’s Queen’s University placement students at the firm were David Wright from Lisburn and Ciara Ryan from Newry.

David Wright, a finance student who spent the last year working at the JohnstonCampbell offices in Cromac Place, said: “I am delighted that JohnstonCampbell has won this award.

“The entire team not only gave me invaluable experience in wealth management, but really went out of their way to make me feel like a valued and important addition to the company.

“I would like to thank everyone in JohnstonCampbell for giving me the opportunity to fine-tune the skills I learnt in university and put them into practice in what has been a very welcoming and rewarding working environment.”

Ciara Ryan, who is also studying finance at Queen’s, added: “I was given the chance to work on real life projects and have one-on-one meetings with a variety of clients which is something that will give me a huge advantage as I move forward in my career as an investment planning administrator.”

In conclusion Mr Glover said: “When it comes to nurturing bright young talent, we are committed to continuing our relationship with Queen’s Management School.

“We have just taken on a further two students who are helping our directors, advisors and analysts across a range of projects and look forward to seeing them grow and progress throughout the year.”
