Employment Briefs – Winners at Palace

Cookery students from South Eastern Regional College (SERC) are celebrating after coming second in a contest at Buckingham Palace.

The team for the Craft Guildof Chefs’ 50th anniversary canapé competition was Roisin McKeown, Ryan Cunningham, Curtis Rea, Judith Lyons and David Magee.

The judge was guild patron, HRH the Countess of Wessex. Led by tutor Michael Gillies, Team SERC prepared a canapé of hay smoked and confit Lisarra chicken, St Tola goat cheese, Finnebrogue venison scotch eggs, smoked salmon, rhubarb and Clandeboye estate yoghurt and Valrhona chocolate orange mousse.

Tutor Michael Gillies said: “The experience was fabulous and it’s great for the students to do so well.”
