THREE newly refurbished science labs have been officially opened at South Eastern Regional College (SERC) Bangor campus.
The £150,000 refurbishment boasts modern, industry-standard science labs, a specialised instrument suite, state-of-the-art chemistry laboratories and preparation rooms, a new animal house, an open plan teaching centre which incorporates practical seating and the latest technology and resources which have been designed to enhance and support learning.
Unveiling the new labs was the Minister for Employment and Learning, Stephen Farry.
He said: “I am delighted to officially open these facilities. Skills in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) will be key drivers to grow an innovative and competitive local economy. It is vital that we enthuse our young people to study and pursue a career in STEM in Northern Ireland.
“Through facilities such as these labs, the South Eastern Regional College will help deliver the supply of people equipped with the right skills to take advantage of emerging opportunities?’
