Paddy Nixon has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Ulster University, replacing Professor Sir Richard Barnett who was Vice-Chancellor from April 2006.
Welcoming the announcement the Minister for Employment and Learning, Stephen Farry said: “I warmly welcome the appointment of Professor Paddy Nixon as the new Vice-Chancellor of Ulster University.
“Professor Nixon has had extensive industry and commercial experience, particularly in collaborations with global high tech firms, and I am confident that this experience will be an asset in further developing Northern Ireland’s higher education sector, particularly in providing the skills necessary for a 21st Century work force.
“With more than 26,000 students and over 3,000 staff, Ulster University is a dynamic and diverse institution providing world-class education and research. I am sure that Professor Nixon will find his Vice-Chancellorship of the University both a challenging and a rewarding experience.”
