Xellient™, a leading recruitment consultancy for the Energy and Environmental industries worldwide, today announced the opening of the company’s new office in Singapore. Xellient™ founded in Belfast in 2013, will now serve the Asian market from its new Singapore office from the 10th December.
The long-term outlook for oil and gas in Singapore remains positive, despite volatile oil prices and global uncertainties, said the country’s Second Minister for Trade and Industry S. Iswaran.
Strong economic fundamentals in Asia-Pacific, along with rapid population growth and economic development, will continue to drive energy demand and thus expenditure on exploration and production activities.
Speaking on the Belfast firm’s expansion Xellient™’s Managing Director and Founder Cathy McCorry commented “we have established meaningful relations with global Energy conglomerates in the Asia-Pacific market and the new Singapore office serves as a gateway for partnership opportunities with local skilled professionals and for forging new alliances with Energy and Environmental companies across the continent. To facilitate the new venture we will be recruiting staff for the new office and are currently undergoing a recruitment drive here in Belfast where we hope to recruit 5 new employees for sales and support roles to start in January 2015.”
As it stands, global oil and gas exploration and production expenditure is expected to hit a record US$723 billion in 2014, with Asia-Pacific economies accounting for nearly a quarter of that alone.
Speaking at the International Oil and Gas Industry Conference at Marina Bay Sands, the minister added that Singapore was in a good position to attract companies seeking to serve the growing offshore exploration and production activities in the region.
With the expected growth, Singapore will continue to invest in research and development and in talent, creating more opportunities for Singaporeans to engage in high-value research and engineering activities. Currently, more than 20,000 Singaporeans are already employed in this industry, largely in skilled jobs such as design and system engineering, product engineering and project management.
Xellient™ had a year of rapid growth with a lot success coming from the North Sea, Asian and US markets, the Renewable Energy industry has also been very prosperous within the UK and Ireland and the industry is showing signs of further growth for 2015 with some exciting new advances coming to the Renewables arena. On the Belfast recruitment drive Cathy McCorry remarks “We are delighted to work with some of the leading Energy companies here in Northern Ireland and the recruitment drive is to help us realise our full potential in both the local and international markets as the Belfast office serves as the nucleus for our business. Good people are our greatest asset, it’s the people you bring on board, how well they fit, how well aligned their motivational drivers are, that will differentiate our company from our competitors and allow us to serve our clients to the best of our capabilities.”
