SOCIAL media can be useful in employee recruitment — but only if it is used properly, it was claimed.
Northern Ireland executive recruiter Neal Lucas was responding to a new GMAC Corporate Recruiters Survey which stated that although almost three-quarters of employers use social media as part of recruitment strategy, little over a quarter reported it effective for recruiting.
“By starting with social media, you are casting quite a wide net, so inevitably there will be a large pool of potential candidates at the start of the process. For recruitment to be effective, it is important that candidates not only have the qualifications to do the job but that they are the right fit for the culture of the organisation. This is where social recruitment currently falls down,” he said.
