A LOCAL insurance business has teamed up with a UK charity to up-skill young road-users.
Autoline Insurance Group, is working with national road safety charity Brake to train young road safety ambassadors in Northern Ireland.
Brake supports families bereaved through road crashes/ incidents and also works to help educate young people and young drivers on road safety. Autoline staff from all regional branches participated in training with Brake to enable them to deliver Brake’s ‘2Young2Die’ workshops in schools and organisations across Northern Ireland.
Caroline Currie, sales director Autoline Insurance Group said: “As a local insurance broker our aim is to make our roads safer for our customers and the wider community.
“We have been working with Brake and RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) to look at ways we can reduce the number of crashes/ incidents, deaths and serious injuries on our roads including acting as ambassadors for Brake in Northern Ireland to deliver the ‘2Young2Die’ programme to help educate young people.
“This is a perfect fit for us because last year we looked at ways in which we could reduce the number of crashes/ incidents on our roads while reducing the cost of insurance for young drivers.
“Our innovative solution of a downloadable app to monitor driving was the first of its kind to market and is revolutionising the young driver market. The Autoline Road Safe Reward App which is currently being used by hundreds of young drivers across Northern Ireland is not only saving drivers money but it follows the same principles as the Advanced Driver Course and is helping to make young drivers better and more aware of their driving behaviour by coaching them to improve their driving score.”
Richard Coteau, corporate relations officer at Brake, said: “Brake is delighted to be working in partnership with Autoline Insurance to engage young people throughout Northern Ireland on safe driving, helping to cut the number of young lives needlessly cut short and prevent life-changing serious injuries.
“Death on roads is the biggest killer of young people, and yet completely preventable.”
