Health Trust HR Director Recognised With Special Award

17th September 2013

THE HR director at the Northern Health Trust has been presented with a top award by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development.

Jacinta Melaugh received the Chairman’s Special Achievement Award from CIPD Northern Ireland chairman Donal Laverty.

Mr Laverty said Jacinta, who has just completed 36 years in the HR field in health and social care, had made a significant contribution to the HR profession, was a strong ambassador of the profession and a role model for others.

He explained the HR director had adopted a strategic approach to the evolution and delivery of HR within the Northern Trust and has been responsible for steering the organisation through extremely challenging and difficult operating conditions.

“With a significant track record in the profession, she has contributed to CIPD events both at regional and local level and is an individual who is highly respected inside and outside of our profession,” he added.

Jacinta, who is taking early retirement after an active and highly visible contribution to human resources within her own organisation and to the wider profession, said: “I’m really delighted to receive the CIPD Chairman’s Special Achievement Award. It’s a great honour for me to finish my 36 years in the human resources profession with this recognition from my professional HR colleagues.

“My long career in the health and social care HR field has been supported and nurtured through my CIPD studies and the availability of CIPD resources.

“I have been involved in many changes within health and social care over my career and my success was only possible through the support of the HR directorate teams within the Northern Health and Social Care Trust and my HR director colleagues within health and social care.”

Jacinta, who lives in Eglinton, Co Londonderry, spent the majority of her career within the Northern Trust.
