HR professionals urged to apply for top awards

17th September 2013

Human resource professionals are being urged to put themselves forward for the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) NI Awards before the March 29 deadline.

The Awards which are aimed at celebrating excellence in local HR practice, will recognize initiatives that have transformed business and organizational performance as well as the contribution individuals and teams working in the HR discipline have made to the way people are managed and developed.

Encouraging all potential nominees to enter, CIPD NI Chairman, Donal Laverty said:

“Anybody from any sector -public, private or voluntary- can apply. Given the current economic situation human resource professionals have been involved with a lot of change over the last three or four years. There are a lot of organisations out there who have restructured and changed direction.

“The strategy of an organisation will often be delivered by human resources – bringing new people in or upskilling existing employees – these awards are meant to identify and recognise best practise within the Northern Ireland business community across all sectors.”

“They are an opportunity to showcase the talent we have here in Northern Ireland. Human resources doesn’t exist in isolation – it has an impact upon all aspects of business and performance.”

Nijobfinder is proud media partner for the awards which will be presented in eight categories with local recruitment specialists Brightwater as the headline sponsor of the event.

Speaking on the benefits of HR as a career and the significance of the awards, Mr Laverty continued:

“HR as a profession covers a huge host of activities and roles; it’s such a broad spectrum. The role can be anything from delivering training, to talent recruitment, right through to leading a major change piece. There are so many entry points into it as a career and possibilities within it.”

“2013 marks the Centenary of the CIPD and the NI Committee felt that this significant milestone was a fitting opportunity to introduce HR excellence awards. Locally the CIPD has over 3000 members working across the private, public and voluntary sectors in businesses and organisations large and small.”

“The CIPD NI Awards have been designed to provide local practitioners with a platform to highlight their innovation and expertise and, in doing so, inspire their peers and the wider business and organizational community about what can be achieved.”
