Young people considering their career options are being offered unique, free hands-on opportunities to learn from leading professionals in the film, TV and gaming industries as part of the ScreenWorks programme.
There is set to be massive opportunity in this sector with the £45 million planned expansion to the film studios at Belfast Harbour likely to create 1,000 new creative jobs but many young people are not fully aware of the career options that they can consider.
The ScreenWorks programme, a partnership between Northern Ireland Screen and Into Film, offers free specialist training from industry professionals in a series of three to five day sessions aimed at 16-19 year olds.
Upcoming ScreenWorks sessions in March include training to become a Stunt Co-Ordinator, Development and Pitching Story Ideas, Props and Set Design and Filming for Music. These taster sessions will give young people a real opportunity to experience what the job is like under the guidance of some of the top talent in Northern Ireland.
Sean Boyle of Into Film commented: “The industry is really growing and there are set to be even more opportunities with the proposed expansion of the Belfast Harbour studios. For the industry to grow and thrive, we need young talent coming up to support it. There will be jobs here in Northern Ireland and we want to have the best pool of creative professionals to continue to make this a world leading destination in film, television and gaming industries.”
